Wildman and Herring Ltd is Daniel Tagg and Tot Foster. We have both been in the new media business since the beginning.
Dan is the technologist, but one who can talk to people and think out of technology’s box. He combines creativity with an in depth knowledge of what technology offers and where it’s heading. He studied engineering at Warwick University and Imperial College and Computer Science at Cambridge University. He was taking things apart from an early age and now he can usually put them back together. He wrote the BBC’s first online chat and was the technical lead on a successful £10m government IT project — Culture Online, winning 25 major awards.
Tot is a seasoned media producer with twenty years experience. She originally studied humanities at Cambridge University before taking a more artistic path as a postgrad at Goldsmiths, and a BAFTA/Post Office scholarship to the National Film and TV School where she directed documentaries for three years. Her subsequent television career involved roles as diverse as sound recording sports specials on Formula 1, directing poets and musicians for Channel 4, to series producing for the BBC where she was a staff producer. Accolades include the Times Documentary of the Week and Guardian Watching Brief. More recently Tot has directed a new degree course at Kingston University in filmmaking, and has been an artist in residence working with sound installations. As well as all this Tot has spent the last eight years working as a consultant to the Open University, working with course teams to develop their media. One project, about understanding media, provided 12 hours of interactive learning and was shortlisted for a Times Higher Education award.
